Before sharing their stats listed, I’d like to offer this…

You can almost flip Windows and Linux in Desktop and Server

Applications. Windows by far the most used Desktop, and Linux

combined with Apache, the most used Server

Today, there are over 600 active Linux distros.

Another 500 are in active development, constituting a complex living system that is continuously upgraded and expanded. Some of the most commonly used are Debian, Gentoo, Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, Fedora, Kali Linux, Arch Linux, and OpenSUSE, Linux distribution usage statistics show.

Ubuntu accounts for 33.9% of the Linux market.

That means that over a third of websites that use Linux run on Ubuntu. Second place goes to Debian, which accounts for 16% of Linux-based websites, followed by CentOS with a share of 9.3%. Other distributions, like RedHat, Gentoo, Fedora, and SuSe, have a much smaller share, i.e., below 1%. Their shares are 0.8%, 0.5%, 0.2%, and 0.1%, respectively.

A low cost marketing approach – Email

Email marketing is a very effective method when it comes to responsive, low-cost internet marketing projects. Because it is the most widely-used and has a reputation for bringing targeted traffic to websites. It is also used to stay in touch with your customers, or prospective customers, send out invitations, or make special offers.

It’s a great way to reach large amounts of customers in a cost effective way that will result in more sales and more traffic to your offers and website, if done right with the proper tools. Namely an autoresponder. Choosing a good service is very important. Some have much higher delivery rates than others. You can use email marketing for virtually any type of business or product. All, or I should say, almost all companies use it to some extent.

It’s as easy as writing an e-mail that may be in a form of a letter or a advertisement thats well constructed, and sending it to as many targeted recipients as possible. However, trying a hardsell on cold prospects will often not get very good results. One way of increasing the likelihood of effectively writing one is to be sure and have interesting and informative content in your email/letter that will benefit the receiving party.

One advantage of email marketing is it can be effective for
both large and small businesses. When it comes to regular
commerce, a larger company can afford to print up colorful
fliers and ads. Smaller businesses due have less opportunity to do this because of the expense if hiring a writer, or time if doing it themselves. It can also be done using software so even small businesses can create effective and professional looking marketing on at a reasonable cost.

Email marketing costs considerably less than other types of
marketing. This savings is after the cost of research, testing,
and sending the emails. Email marketing consulting and writers is usually less expensive than other marketing consultants. This means you can decide to save money, or spend more, but reach less or more prospects. You have to weigh the differences and do some testing to see what works for you and what kind of return you get on your investment,(ROI)

We’ll talk more on that in a follow up article later this week. and talk more about autoresponders and all the ways you can use them. This is the one tool you can’t do without to be effective in your email marketing. Automating your marketing and campaigns is very valuable in this area.

How about Ebooks and Marketing

So I decided today to talk about ebooks and marketing. I use them quite a bit for promotion and I have a free package you can pick up
at the end of this writing.

I have been asked a lot about writing ebooks and some people have difficulty coming up with ideas and content for their ebook. I have the problem quite a bit myself. I’m not a writer by trade. Or by any other means. I do write a lot of my own emails for marketing. Products, Services, whatever. Sometimes I work off others work. Sometimes I use PLR, (Private Label Rights) material.

You can do a Google search and you will come up with a lot of material there. You can check out others like Rapidshare, or other search engines, and you’ll get thousands of results.

If your gonna use them for marketing you need to be sure you can use them legally. one good reason I like PLR. Try to get stuff that’s quality writing or you can do more damage than good in the long run. People will start to avoid what you offer if you give away a lot of low quality stuff.

Now lets talk about promoting and driving traffic for a minute. First a good website or blog to host your products is important. Some people I know create a blog for each ebook. Easy to do and you can ping your blog and get some natural traffic from organic search results as well.

In driving the most online traffic and making money with your blog, you should post often and create posts that interest your past as well as potential customers. Regular posts that are interesting to read will keep your readers coming back and buying from you.

Next is creating a funnel for your offer. A well created funnel can maximize your sales before, during and after, (follow-up series) your original offer. You can create them yourself, get pre-made, or even outsource. You can use sites like freelance to find people who will do this for you at reasonable prices.

So I know i have not covered things in real depth. But it’s a start, and a few tips that I have learned over time.
